Accounts

ad-accountsFor security reasons, Analytics Edge stores your account information on your computer, not in the workbooks. Accounts are stored using Reference names, and the queries use a Reference name to identify which account to use.

Before you can log into an account, you must enter a Reference name in the field provided, then click the Add Account button.

After your have logged in, the account credentials will be stored (encrypted) on your computer so you can refresh reports without having to login each time.

Multiple accounts can be stored, and you can change which account gets used by default. If your reports make multiple queries and always refer to the ‘Default account’, you can switch the default account to report on on different account.

If you have an MCC account, your customers are listed in the dropdown at the bottom. This is for your information only, and changing the selector has no effect.

Core Add-in users: Use the ‘Save Default in Macro’ button to force a specific workbook macro to always use a specific account as the default.

Dates

You can select from preset date ranges similar to what is available in the AdWords web interface, or you can pick a combination of start and end, start and duration, or end and duration.

ad-dates

Dates can be selected by specific calendar dates using pop-up calendars, by selecting a preset date offset, or by entering a date value. Date values can also be obtained from Excel cell references by clicking the button at the right.

The preset date offset is useful for making reports relative to today’s date: the most recent calendar month, for example.

Specific date values could be manually entered in the format of yyyy-mm-dd, or click the button to the right of the field to use an Excel cell reference to a date in your worksheet.

Filters

To add filters to your report, select a combination of the column, criteria and value, and then click the Add button. Multiple filters will be AND-ed, meaning the report will contains rows that pass all the filters.

OR logic is not available from the API — make multiple queries and combine the results.

ad-filters

Note that for fields that use a fixed set of values, a selector drop-down will appear.

Fields

The fields available for each report are listed in three groupings: Segments (used to group metrics), Attributes (settings or other fixed data) and Metrics (numerical performance data).

When you select a report, the default fields will be selected for you (listed at the right). You can add or remove fields from this list as desired.

ad-fields

Note that the display name for each field is shown, consistent with the web interface, and they are listed in alphabetical order. The list of available fields varies depending on the report your selected.

Select from the list at the left and double-click the field name, or click the [ >> ] button to add the field name to the selected list at the right.

Your report results will be sorted based on the order of the columns, with the first column sorted in ascending order, then the second column, and so on. To reorder the list of fields, simply drag and drop them in the list at the right.

Reports

The Analytics Edge Google AdWords Connector provides access to all the reports available from the AdWords API. When you open the Reports wizard, you will see a number of tabs: Reports, Fields, Filters, Dates and Sort.

ad-reports-maintabs

The Reports tab organizes the available reports in a similar fashion to the Google AdWords web interface, with the side tabs and selection buttons.

Starting in v3.7.1, Accounts and Customer IDs can use Excel cell references or manually entered values. Customer ID’s can also use Analytics Edge [Range] names to perform multi-customer queries similar to the Google Analytics’ connector’s multi-view queries.

Reports Sub-menu

Down the left hand side, you will see some side tabs that group reports similar to those available in the Google AdWords web interface, including the Main Tabs, Settings, Ad extensions, Dimensions, Display Network, Shared Library, and Other.

When you select a report, the default Fields and Filters will be automatically selected on the other tabs, so you can simply click Finish to get a default report. You can modify those selections if you want.

For the Dimensions reports, you can also select the Level of Detail using one of the three buttons at the bottom.

* MailChimp Help

menuThe MailChimp Connector for Analytics Edge makes it easy to download your MailChimp campaign and list information into Microsoft Excel.

Start by opening the Accounts wizard to establish an Account to use.

NOTE: v3.0 of the connector uses a completely new authentication mechanism. If you used v2.x, you MUST replace all of your existing accounts with new entries (delete the old, add a new one).

Accounts wizard

accountsThis Analytics Edge wizard is used to establish Google login accounts that can be used by the various queries.

Optional Double-Login This connector has access to both the NEW Search Analytics API and the OLD Webmaster Tools CSV Downloads (until about Oct 20, 2015). If you want to access both sources, you will need to login TWICE — once using a login dialog, and the second time by entering your account and password.

Manual Login

ga-manual-authIf you experience a problem with the login, such as second-factor authentication failure, click the Manual link in the upper right corner of the dialog. A new browser window will open. Login to your Google account and Accept the access request. You will be taken to a web page on the Analytics Edge web site, and there should be a code in the URL of the browser. Copy the code part of the URL, close the browser, and paste the code into the dialog box provided.

Old Webmaster Tools Queries

If you want access to the OLD Webmaster Tools CSV Downloads, then your account MUST have the Less Secure Apps option enabled. This second login is OPTIONAL, but the old Webmaster Tools Query wizard will not run without it.

License wizard

licenseWhen you first start Excel with the Webmaster Tools connector installed, Analytics Edge will open the license wizard. Click the big Activate Free Trial License button to start your trial.

When you purchase a full license, enter the license key and click the Submit button.

Revoking access

To gain access to your Constant Contact data, Analytics Edge obtains an “Oauth token” when you log in to your account through the connector (use the Add Account function on the Accounts Wizard).  Once that token is issued, you no longer need to log in with the account and password — the token is accepted all by itself.

Note that the account is still verified before use, so even if an oauth token is issued for an account/login, if that account is deactivated, the oauth tokens will fail.

If it is necessary to revoke a token, the only way to do this is to send a request to Constant Contact Web Services group (webservices@constantcontact.com) telling them to revoke all Oauth tokens issued to your account from the application “Analytics Edge Account Login”.
